  11. 1.)  When we put this computer together a year ago, we put a $25 VLB
  12. controller/I/O card in (is this what is known as a multi-card?). The
  13. manual calls it a UN-1081VL Local-Bus to IDE and Super I/O Controller
  14. and MSD identifies it as a UART 8250. 
  15. It was recently augmented by a Promise EIDE MAX controller card that
  16. can be installed alone or be used with the existing card. I want to
  17. pull the old I/O card and put in a 16550 I/O card.
  18. I have a Sportster 28.8 external modem.
  19. Am I on the right track here?
  20. 2.) I have check out the Navas and the Modem Center sites which are
  21. often recommended by posters here. I have read conflicting advice
  22. concerning getting any sort of fax software to run on WFWG. Any votes
  23. or suggestions for the most trouble-free software?
  24. I don't want to jump on the 33.2 bandwagon until the traffic dies
  25. down, but I appreciate all the reports.
